What types of drill bits are processed?

2021 11/02

Drill bit is not only common in life, but also widely used in cutting tools. Many people's understanding of mold processing should start with drill bit. In fact, there are many kinds of drill bits. However, the materials for making drill bits are generally divided into three categories, one is high-speed steel, the other is cemented carbide and diamond drill bits.
1. Diamond bit
Diamond bits include polycrystalline diamond (PCD) bits, CVD diamond bits, electroplated diamond bits, brazed diamond bits, etc. with the increasing application of new composite materials and the continuous progress of precision and ultra precision machining technology, diamond tools have also developed rapidly and can be used in automobiles Industrial abrasive materials processed by aerospace and all composite materials greatly meet the high-quality requirements for drilling;
Diamond bit bodies are made of fine-grained cemented carbide materials, with sharper cutting edges, higher machining quality and longer tool life; The tool material has higher thermal conductivity, and the groove shape is optimized according to the material characteristics.
2. High speed steel
High speed steel (HSS) is a kind of tool steel with rigidity, hardness, high wear resistance and high heat resistance, also known as high speed tool steel and front steel, commonly known as white steel; High speed steel tool is a tool that is stronger and easier to cut than ordinary tools. High speed steel has better toughness, strength and heat resistance than carbon tool steel, and the cutting speed is much higher than carbon tool steel (iron carbon alloy), so it is named high speed steel; The performance of cemented carbide is better than that of high-speed steel, and the cutting speed can be increased by 2-3 times.
characteristic:
The red hardness of high speed steel can reach 650 degrees. High speed steel has good strength and toughness, sharp cutting after grinding and stable quality. It is generally used to manufacture small and complex cutting tools.
3. Cemented carbide
Cemented carbide bit is mainly composed of tungsten carbide and cobalt, accounting for 99% of all components, and 1% is other metals, so it is called tungsten steel (cemented carbide). Tungsten steel is a sintered composite material containing at least one metal carbide. The grain size of carbide component (or phase) is usually between 0.2-10 microns, and the carbide grains are bonded together with metal binder. Bonding metals are generally iron group metals, commonly used are cobalt and nickel. Therefore, there are tungsten cobalt alloy, tungsten nickel alloy and tungsten titanium cobalt alloy. The sintering forming of tungsten steel bit material is to press the powder into embryo material, then heat it into the sintering furnace to a certain temperature (sintering temperature), maintain it for a certain time (holding time), and then cool down, so as to obtain the tungsten steel material with required performance.
characteristic:
The red hardness of cemented carbide can reach 800-1000 degrees.
The cutting speed of cemented carbide is 4-7 times higher than that of high-speed steel, and the cutting efficiency is high.
The disadvantages are low flexural strength, poor impact toughness, high brittleness, low impact and seismic resistance.
